Przegapiłem trochę w natłoku pracy, ale 14 dni temu ITBlog skończył roczek (niedziela, listopad 14, 2004). 429 postów, 149 komentarzy.

Ostatnie problemy z mojego "podwórka"

Przerwa w blogu, tydzień urlopu

Hej szanowny czytelniku, hej szanowna czytelniczko! Przez tydzień mój blog będzie martwy, przez tydzień będę się urlopował.

Postanowiłem w końcu wykończyć swoje M.

Spotkałeś kiedyś swojego CEO?

Ilu z was, którzy pracują w wielkich korporacjach spotkało swojego CEO?
Mnie było łatwiej spotkać Steve’a Ballmera niż Michaela Della, mimo że u tego ostatniego pracuje.

Update.
Trochę czasu minęło, więc mogę napisać dlaczego napomniałem o tym temacie. Otóż dnia dzisiejszego pięknego odwiedził nas sam CEO korporacji Dell Kevin Rollins. Dla tych co nie wiedzą – Kevin jest CEO, Michael Dell jest prezesem rady nadzorczej.
Nie muszę chyba opisywać, bo jest oczywistym że było dość nerwowo. Pośrodku campusu powiewały flagi Irlandii, Unii Europejskiej i Della. Czarne mercedesy i ochroniarze.

Sam niestety nie miałem okazji spotkać się z prezesem.

To słowa zastrzeżone dla urządzeń.

Nagła epidemia?

Dziś jakaś nagła epidemia zapanowała na problem opisany w KB899416 – You receive a “The event log file is corrupt” error on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 SP1, an x64-based version of Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Kilka osób z 2003 Server z dokładnie tym samym problemem. Nic wspólnego ze sobą nie mieli.
Więc na czym polega to zjawisko?

Po krótce, notatka opisuje problem z uszkodzonym plikiem podglądu zdarzeń, po ludzku nazywa się to Event Viewer, problem objawia się komunikatem: The event log file is corrupt. Ma to zastosowanie do Windows 2003 Server na których zainstalowano SP1. Wszystkiemu winna jest karta sieciowa i jej sterowniki.

Rozwiązaniem jest pobranie poprawki. By ją otrzymać należy skontaktować się z Pomocą Techniczną Microsoft.

Wynalazek nr 2: Singularity

Do ciekawszych wynalazków, jakie MS nam ostatnio serwuje dołożyć trzeba ich nowy system operacyjny o nazwie Singularity. Na wszystkich blogach zagranicznych prawie bez wyjątku został nazwany “other os”.
Założenie było dośc proste: Windows opiera się na teori systemów operacyjnych rodem z lat 70. A co gdyby napisać system od nowa? Pomyśleli i napisali jądro o wielkości 300.000 linii. Dużo? Nie pytajcie ile ma Windows.

System jest trochę wolniejszy, bo pisany też w C#. Ale krytykował nie będę, bo nie widziałem. Wczytywać się w szczegóły jakoś nie mam czasu i ochoty.
Na Channel9 pokazało się video z wywiadem z twórcami systemu.

Po n latach w Unixach, Microsoft wynalazł na nowo symbolic link!

A teraz do rzeczy. Na blogu Windows Server Division WebLog ukazała się notka wprost od programistów Visty mówiąca o tym, że MS zastosuje w nowym systemie operacyjnym na systemie plików linki symboliczne (symbolic link). Dejavu?
Dla tych, którzy nie widzą różnicy między obecnymi już skrótami a linkami symbolicznymi, wyjaśniam, że linki symboliczne będą działały na poziomie systemu plików, a nie Ekspolorera, tym samym wszystkie aplikacje będą posługiwały się linkami symbolicznymi w ten sam sposób.
