You’re right about a few things about Apple and Poland:
1)We have a “premium reseller” that is crappy
2)There is a rumour that when that deal with mentioned reseller expires Apple will start working on Polish market directly. This rumour is 2 years old and still no direct Apple presence in Poland I have found.
The only change I found about Apple’s products (beside iPod) is that in major stores Apple computers are more visible (like Media Markt/Saturn big malls and a few Apple dedicated stores in major cities with ownership I haven’t checked).
3) Thanks to EU we as Poland could sue the vendor for different pricing system which looks continuous (this is important as far as I know the law that prices can differ only for short-term promotions).
4) Free thought which was already mentioned in Polish comments to this blog entry – most people interested in Macs are so called “aware consumers”. These people with free access to internet and travelling options on reach will be more eager to purchase items on ebay.com and other on-line stores or buy when they’re abroad than to support Polish distributors and even a vendor himself.
So.. significant numbers of potential customers do not care to change Polish market at homeland. If Apple at some corporate market research won’t figure out good numbers on Poland and don’t start playing well here directly both sides will not give a damn and still be somehow happy. Complaining has left only for “not aware consumers”.

Question is how big is potential market for Apple in Poland. Is it currently at least $10M business for Apple computers only with current prices and with “the best possible” to achieve? I doubt and this or other number would be reasonable thinking for Apple to hire here 5 guys to build real distribution channel. (My measure is that if PC market in PL is about $120M annually and statistically Apple has 6% share world wide I’d expect 5-10M revenue after first fiscal year with a couple of hard working guys who can show good estimates for further growth.

Current pricing reputation doesn’t help much, maybe that’s the reason why we have only rumours about “Apple Poland”.

The first thing I would do is speak to my MEP (Member of the European Parliament) or the relevant government department in Poland. Apple was recently threatened with prosecution by the European Commission over the differential prices on the iTunes store within the EU. They backed down rather than facing prosecution, and consequently iTunes tracks are now cheaper in the UK than they were a few months ago (similarly, car prices in the UK have fallen dramatically over the last few years).

The big change since Leopard is that we now have a Polish version of the Mac OS, so Apple has every reason to want to sell more Macs in Poland. Remember, you’re not the only ones — Portugal was in exactly the same position until very recently. Resellers of Macs there were charging stupid, frankly obscene prices. And now, suddenly, there’s a Portuguese Mac store.

You never know… perhaps Apple wants to run its own MacStore, but has to wait for contracts with the Apple ‘Premium resellers’ (vomit) to expire.
